Hello! I’m Carolyn.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado offering counseling focused on adoption-related mental health experiences. As an adoptee, I bring both lived experience and specialized clinical training to this work. I've completed the National Training Initiative (NTI) through the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) and have volunteered in adoptee support and advocacy efforts, but what really motivated me to enter the field was my own experience with mental health services as an adoptee and my struggles finding a provider who understood my experience and recognized my needs.
If you're here, you may be carrying questions about identity, belonging, loss, or relationships that don't always have easy answers. Whether you're navigating reunion, parenting, or simply trying to make sense of experiences that have shaped your life, you don't have to do it alone.
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and centered on helping you better understand yourself and move toward the life and relationships you want. I want to create a space where you feel heard and understood, and where you don’t have to explain the basics of adoption so we can focus on your story and your experience. Here, adoption is recognized as a lifelong event and a lens through which all experiences are filtered. Even if you aren’t sure how adoption has impacted you, or you don’t know exactly where to start, I’d love to speak with you about how I can help.
Clients often come to me because they're...
Wondering where they belong or who they are
Processing the lifelong impact of adoption
Navigating reunion, grief, or complicated family relationships
Hoping to build healthier, more connected relationships
Looking for a therapist who understands adoption without needing to explain every detail
My practice offers:
Adoption-focused, trauma-informed therapy
Individual and family counseling for ages 14+
Couples therapy, including Gottman Method-informed approaches
Brainspotting for trauma and emotional processing
Secure virtual therapy throughout Colorado, South Carolina, Florida, Delaware, and Idaho
Lola is almost always in the room, relaxing off camera.
