Therapy for Adoptive Parents and Families

How does this look?

Your family might be struggling to navigate questions about identity, loyalty, trauma, or loss; you may be trying to better understand your child’s needs and create a safe and supportive home. You might feel like you’re doing it all, and you might be exhausted.

Together we can explore the unique challenges your family faces, create adoption-informed plans for parenting through these questions and needs, and provide support for you as you support your family.

How can therapy help?

Topics we may explore include:

  • Parenting children who have experienced trauma

  • Stress management

  • Navigating difficult conversations about adoption/identity

  • Navigating conversations about birth family

  • Strengthening your relationship with your partner

My goal is to create a supportive environment for growth, connection, skill development, and communication.

What is it like to work with me?

You are the expert on your family’s needs, and this guiding principle is central to our work together. I have an understanding and deep respect for the complexities of adoption and adoptive family needs and will keep this at the center of our work as we collaborate to develop skills, increase connection, and work together to find a way forward that makes sense for your family.

Fees/Insurance

Though I currently only offer self-pay services, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, though this varies by plan (I encouraged you to check with your provider first).

I am in the process of credentialing with several insurance plans, so if you’d like to use insurance, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask about plans to accept it in the future.

How do I get started?

If you're wondering whether we're a good fit, I'd love to meet with you for a free consultation.
